Stories Connect Us

Stories connect us to the past, to the future, and to one another. Every bit of fiction has some sort of reality in it because it was written for people, by people. Every bit of non-fiction discloses stories for the very same reason. When one fails to share stories, one fails to grow, and thus, to connect at a heartbeat level with others. May we never fail to share our stories.

Rev. Jacqueline L. Coleman is a Christian author who is passionate about empowering others to grow in their God-given gifts in order to serve Him more fully.

Biblical Mentoring:

What Some of Our Favorite Biblical Characters Teach Us About Mentoring

Although the word “mentor” cannot be found in either the Old or New Testaments, when we look through God’s Story, we can see how Scripture is rife with examples of mentor/mentee relationships, along with other relationships that give us insight into mentoring. These relationships passed down, generationally, the teachings and examples of God. In this book, I have written about 12 of these relationships in the hope that we can learn from both the encouraging and the difficult experiences of these men and women.

Each chapter stands alone, although there is more to be gleaned by working through all of them, and each chapter concludes with a series of reflection questions that will be of benefit for you personally as well as for taking into a group study to help train mentors.

The Yellow Cottage

In the middle of the bustling city, tucked between cookie cutter skyscrapers, sat a bright yellow cottage. It’s five wooden steps, placed perfectly in a row and flawlessly crafted so that a child could run fingers across the grains of wood and not gain a splinter, ended in a cozy front porch decked with several wooden rocking chairs in a myriad of colors that invited passersby to sit for just a moment.
